Bumble BFF review — groups, not just swipes

Bumble BFF review — the September 2025 relaunch with Groups (built on Geneva), whether it's free, how it compares with Timeleft, Meetup and MSocial, and who it suits.

Friends playing a board game

Verdict: The biggest brand in friend-finding, now with Groups — a real improvement. But it still leaves the hardest part, actually meeting, to you.

How it works

Since its September 2025 relaunch, BFF combines 1:1 friend matching with a Groups tab: chat rooms, hangouts and a shared calendar. The group technology came from Geneva, which Bumble bought in 2024 and shut down as a standalone app.

Price

Bumble's support pages say BFF has no premium tier.

Strengths and weaknesses

Strengths Weaknesses
Big user base Swipe-based matching
Groups make plans easier You organise the meeting
Free Parent company in heavy restructuring

Alternatives

Timeleft if you want the evening organised for you; Meetup or a run club for recurring contact; MSocial in M for friendships built around shared plans. See every friendship app compared.
