How we compare apps

How Dating Outside compares dating and friendship apps — the five criteria we use, how we check prices and availability, and how to report a correction.

Dating Outside compares apps on one question: how reliably do they turn into a real meeting? It's published by the team behind M, which appears in our comparisons alongside every other app and is judged on the same criteria. We don't use affiliate links.

The five criteria

  1. Time to a real meeting — how many steps and days from install to sitting across from someone?
  2. Who does the planning — you in chat, the app, an AI matchmaker, or an event organiser?
  3. Effort per match — endless swiping, or a few considered suggestions?
  4. Safety — verification, public venues, reporting tools.
  5. Honest cost — what the free version really does, and what paid tiers cost.

How we check facts

Prices, availability and company news come from official sites, app store listings, company filings and reputable reporting, linked at the bottom of every article. Big apps price dynamically by age, country and platform, so we show typical prices and the date we checked. Company-reported numbers are labelled as such.

Corrections

Apps change fast. Spot something out of date? Email info@mtheapp.com and we'll check it and update the page date.
