Dating apps that plan the date for you (and skip the chat)

The apps that replace endless messaging with an actual date — M, Breeze, Amata, Known, Ditto, Sitch, Overtone, Keeper and Fika. How each one books the date, what it costs, where it works and the trade-offs.

Two people meeting for a first date in a café

The most common way a match dies isn't rejection. It's drift: a fun first exchange, slower replies, a vague "we should grab a drink sometime" — and nothing. These apps remove the step where that happens: the negotiation over when and where.

Why "no negotiation" works

People are bad at predicting chemistry from text. Long pre-date chats build an imagined version of the other person that the real one then has to compete with — and every day of back-and-forth is a day for the match to fade. Taking the planning away does three things: it forces a decision, it shortens the time to a date from weeks to days, and it cuts the number of parallel chats that make apps exhausting.

The trade-off: you lose a screening step. If chatting first matters to you, pick an app that keeps chat open.

M

M starts from compatibility — values and life decisions, interests and hobbies, education and work, places you've lived — and shows you why you fit. You choose up to eight favourite places in your city and your availability; when you match, M schedules the date. Rescheduling is built in.

Sunday Drops is the most automated feature in the category: on selected Sundays, M picks a highly compatible match using compatibility and availability and schedules the date as a ready plan. Can't make it? Apologize opts you out politely.

Everyone who matches is verified with a face photo and phone number. M works in every city. Full review →

Breeze

The most established pure "no-chat" app. Founded in the Netherlands in 2020, now in six countries and 94 cities, with over 750,000 dates arranged. Both people pay, give their availability, and Breeze books one of 1,500+ partner venues; chat opens shortly before. Cancel or ghost and your account is frozen. Breeze reports 75% of couples swap numbers after the date and under 1% no-shows (company figures). Full review →

Amata

An AI matchmaker launched in New York in October 2025. It interviews you, chooses the match, then the time and the place — you pay a $16 token per date. Two cancellations in a row pause you for a week.

Known

Stanford dropouts' answer to profiles: a 15-minute voice conversation with an AI, then one match at a time with an explanation. Free to use; $15 only when a date is confirmed. Known says half of proposed dates are accepted.

Ditto

No app at all — California college students text an AI over iMessage, and every Wednesday it proposes a specific date near campus. It says 20% of matches become dates.

Sitch, Overtone and Keeper

Sitch mixes an AI matchmaker trained on human matchmaking with a group-chat introduction ($90–160 per pack). Overtone, from Hinge's founder, is a voice-first AI matchmaker with a waitlist in four US cities. Keeper charges men a $50,000 "marriage bounty" and lets nobody browse.

Which should you try?

  • Anywhere in the world, want compatibility plus a planned date: M.
  • In Breeze's six countries and happy to pay per date: Breeze.
  • In New York or San Francisco and curious about AI matchmaking: Amata or Known.

Questions people ask

Which dating app books the date for you?

M plans the date at your favourite places once you match, in any city, and its Sunday Drops feature schedules a date for you automatically. Breeze books a partner venue after both people pay (NL, BE, FR, DE, UK, US). Amata (NYC), Known (SF) and Ditto (California campuses) use AI to propose a specific date.

Can I message my match before the date?

It depends. M keeps chat open. Breeze opens chat shortly before the date, and Amata two hours before. The idea is to share logistics, not to get to know each other in text.

Are no-chat dating apps safe?

Meeting at a public, staffed venue is a sensible safety pattern, and these apps verify users — M verifies every user with a face photo and phone number. You lose some ability to screen people in chat, so tell a friend where you're going.
